Box Tunnel - a bit of history

They said it was impossible to make a 2 mile rail tunnel under box hill. Isinbard disagreed. 100 men died proving the point. It cost £100 for each yard achieved. The men who survived working on its construction saw the seems of Bath stone and a huge underground quarry network is still there although boarded off. I feel sure we can get in. These tunnels were used for munitions storage and the underground station was the loading bay. This is presumably the reason for the anti aircraft structure we found. This subterrania thing is getting bigger by the day and either needs its own blog or abandoning. The scale is too much to take on and requires full time commitment.
