Ferrybridge as the sun goes down

There is a tragic feel to these pictures. All the pits that provided the coal in years gone buy are gone. The miners who fought the battle of Orgreave are gone. The surrounding ex mining towns nests of unemployment and serious drug abuse. A people, a culture was allowed to grow, like beehives the towns had purpose but when cheaper coal came in they were thrown on the slag heap. Now the country pays their benefits.
