I cant be certain but I reckon these Keymac covers are Fromes oldest. There are 3 I know of, all on cobbled car free streets. Gentle street has a highly worn down example. Gentle street is an alley with great significance, once known as Hunger hill due to how tiring it was to get up. Deliveries by horse and cart were made down here which may account for the example where virtually all detail has been worn away. Given that the street is pedestrianised, it is hard to imagine how else this erosion took place. nFortunately, behind St Johns Church this well preserved example still is there for the townsfolk to enjoy.
