It took till afternoon for CSI to arrive and do there thing. Four men in balaclavas had kicked in the front door. The kids in the bottom flat put their backs to their door but it came in over them. Threatened with knives they gave up their goods. That's a pretty scary crime for a small town like this. That front door has been kicked in at least three times I remember, maybe more. Christ Grayling said yesterday at the Tory party conference that as justice secretary he would ensure protection for householders who tackle burglars. Well, brave as I might pretend to be I'm no match for four masked men wielding cricket bats and knives.
Whether the police work will lead to an arrest seems immaterial. My girlfriend struggles with her sleep at the best of times. Yesterday residual adrenaline rendered her fearful. What a house.
