There is no reason for a fully believing Christian or Muslim to fear death. Herein lies the reason for displays of commitment like suicide bombing missions. Mostly, however, I think they don't really believe. This is why anyone suggesting that there is no soul, no disembodied consciousness, is given a hard time. When a devout Christian or Muslim finds out a friend has terminal cancer their response ought to be, 'congratulations, not long to paradise now, eh?'
