Comma

Saw a Comma, so named because of the white commer like mark on the underside of wings. Both identification books in our studio show the butterfly with wings closed to illustrate this. The Commas' ragged shped wings distinguish it from fratillaries. It is the size of a tortoiseshell. So far this year it is the first I have seen.
