Dale Park Travellers Camp

Further to the UN Committees call on the government to suspend the 'immature and unwise' eviction of 400 people from Dale Farm Travellers camp, I am hugely impressed by the Members of the Jewish Community who have visited the site to give their support. Fransiscan Monks have also offered their blessing as well as Catholic and Anglican Bishops.
Rabbi Janet Burden said 'People may notrelsethat the Travellers along with the Gypsies and a limited numr of other groups with similar lifestyle patterns are officially recognised as ethnic minorities jus like our own Jewish Community. As such they are protected by European Human Rights laws.' She went on to compare the 'villification' of Travellers to the discrimination faced by Jews in the first half of he 20th century. The rights of Travellers should trump planning laws and the eviction should be overturned or we have learned nothing from the Holocaust.
