After my brief trip up north I returned to work. I don't really buy in to the freindly north unfreindl south thing however, I have noticed that southerners are quite prepared to blank you, even if you know them. They go to pubs in groups where as, the further north you get, the concept of the 'public house' is, or was till the smoking ban and cheap supermarket booze far clearer. You go to the pub on your own; you engage with strangers. In Scotland they won't see you drink alone. This tightness, the clique never sits well with the northerner.
I was blanked twice on the way to work, the first bird of note I saw was a raven, barking overhead.
