Journey Home

Left the North East feeling refreshed. I had forgotten how deprived and different the country is up there. In the town where I stayed, nearly all shops have gone and either lie idle or are charity shops. A huge tescos has taken all trade from them. I could barely find a photo there. The day in Willington would have provided more; unemployment and no signs of a change is all most can expect and the few I met seemed resigned to their fate. No riots here, their isn't any designer shops to raid. Sunderland has a similar feel; even the aspiration of theft has been rung out of the welcoming and, would be hard working people, given a chance. The Nissan factory provides for a class above who are payed ok but become distanced fom their communities.
