It is quite a thought that the death penalty was only repealed in France in 1981 during Francois Mitterands' first year of presidency. The last man to be guillotined was Hamida Djandoubi in 1977. The year 2000ad comic came out and Sex Pistols 'God save the Queen' reached number 1 in the British singles chart.
