Rugby League

It is going to be a tense week in the build up to the televised cup final between cupholders Warrington and Grand Final Champions Leeds RL.  Keith Seniors return to Wembley will be an emotional one. He was in the Sheffield Eagles team, an experiment in trying to take the Greatest Game to South Yorkshire and was in the team that beat Wigan who at the time had 'owned' the cup for the best part of a decade. Regarded by many as the greatet sporting upset of all time, John Kear steared his team to victory. Sheffield Eadles were the brainchild of Gary and Kath Hetherington, Kath now at Hull, Gary at Leeds. When Hull met Leeds in our last final Hull pulled off a fine victory they still talk of to this day. Since Leeds last heald the cup aloft 11 years ago we have failed in 3 finals, focusing on our last three years as Champions at Grand Final level, an unprescedented achievement in post superleague rugby. Warrington as cup holders must be regarded as equals to Leeds 3 champiuonships. The tension this week will be unbareable.
